Paige became the biggest heel in the company to me this week during her promo on SmackDown, especially with this unnecessary jab:
You found yourself a little boyfriend...Tamina. Tamina arent you competing in the wrong division?
Oh. She thinks Tamina looks like a man. Got it. Nothing like transphobic language from a BABYFACE to get the crowd going. Its another unfortunate instance in WWEs long, disgusting history of insulting women on air for their looks. Tamina is the only woman employed who doesnt look like a model, so her co-workers are free attack her for this. In the year 2015. This is similar to Mickie James becoming Piggy James, because she was the only non-rail thin woman in the company. Oh wait, there was one more at that time: Vickie Guerrero, and she was continually mocked by Jerry Lawler, and even John Cena for essentially being average sized. The SmackDown segment was just unbearable. Paige also told Naomi that theres more to being a diva than having athleticism. If you didnt get the memo Naomi, you have to have a personality. And thats something you clearly lack. Um, within the confines of a storyline why does she need more than fighting skills? That's kind of how you win matches. Also of note, Paige referenced the delightful Botchamania Youtube videos in her promo, which was edited off air. This is particularly amusing because Nikki Bella ended the segment by tripping, barely touching Tamina and forcing her to sell it anyway. A complete mess of a segment that makes you want to trade the entire NXT womens division for the Divas straight up.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
