WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (July 6)

5. Paige Turns Heel

WWE.comWWE.comYes, it was nice to see AJ Lee return on Monday's Raw. There were rumors that she became pregnant with CM Punk's child, which could have potentially jeopardized her future with the company. Turns out none of that was true, and she looked exactly like she did before. Except now, she was no longer the most evil woman on the roster (Stephanie McMahon has clearly taken that spot) and she may actually be a babyface for no reason except for that a segment of the crowd really misses her husband. What struck me as frustrating about AJ's return is that it made Paige a heel without any sort of prior storyline to support it. Paige was a face the night before at the pay-per-view, but something in her DNA suddenly changed afterward. She turned into a coward despite winning all of her matches cleanly, and became afraid to fight AJ. She went so far as to say that no one in the arena wanted to see her defend her belt, which is a distinctly heel line. Begrudgingly, she agreed to a match and lost in a matter of minutes. So basically, we're supposed to boo a woman because she didn't want to take on a match with absolutely no notice against a known cheater. I probably would have done the same if I was a woman who held a title in a combat sport. Her reluctance just isn't a good enough reason to dislike her.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
