Everyone has been well aware that the brand split is going to return in July, and that with it SmackDown will be moving to Tuesday nights where it will be broadcast live. RAW and SmackDown are to have unique rosters, announce teams, pay-per-views and everything else that comes with that territory.

A draft is to take place to decide those two rosters, and the date for that draft has been announced. It will take place on that very first live episode of SmackDown, airing on July 19th.

The draft is to be conducted by the respective RAW and SmackDown General Managers, whose identities are still unknown.

So there you have it. That first SmackDown was always going to be monumental, but it has taken on even more importance now. That final RAW the night before should fascinating too. With less than a month to go until the draft there is still plenty of time for speculation who will end up where, which former superstars will return and what will happen with the titles in WWE.

Things are about to get interesting.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
