WWE Announces New 'Moonsault' NFT Marketplace
Of course WWE gets on the NFT train just as the market starts to crash...
WWE is getting back into the NFT business.
The promotion has issued the following release confirming the launch of 'WWE Moonsault', an NFT marketplace the promotion plans on launching before WrestleMania 38 (2/3 April):-
This past Sunday at SXSW 2022 in Austin, Texas at the Blockchain Creative Labs’ House, WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon announced the name of WWE’s new NFT platform, WWE Moonsault. Fans can now go to the WWE Moonsault website, wwemoonsault.com, and sign up to receive additional details. WWE is planning to officially launch WWE Moonsault prior to WrestleMania 38, taking place just down the road from SXSW in Dallas on April 2 and 3 at AT&T Stadium.
Further details on how to sign up can be found at WWEMoonsault.com.
WWE Moonsault comes following an October 2021 announcement that WWE was entering a partnership with the Fox-helmed Blockchain Creative Labs in order to launch such a platform. The pro wrestling market leaders have dabbled in NFTs in the past, launching Undertaker and John Cena tokens in April and August 2021 respectively.
This news comes as the market for NFTs appears to be in decline, with average sale prices falling to less than $2,000 from $6,800 in January.
