1. The Charge Of Mahal Topples Randy

I really can't wrap my head around the anti-Jinder Mahal brigade. I appreciate all the concerns with regards to suddenness of his push, and his possibly unjust elevation above several apparently 'more deserving' stars, but this is not a new phenomenon in wrestling. The name 'JBL' has been bandied around a lot lately in reference to Jinder's rise, and he became a wrestling legend on the back of his swift ascent to the top.

(Don't take my word for, you readers voted him worryingly high in our magazine poll of top 100 wrestlers of all time.)

The case for swiping right on Jinder is that he's not Randy 'Tedious' Orton. Children have literally been born, grown up, and legally started smoking since Orton first appeared on our screens, and right now I'd take Viktor over him as WWE champion for the sake of variety. Nine times he's held that belt. Nine. To put that into context, Hulk Hogan was considered past his sell-by-date after his fifth, if not before.

There's also a highly logical argument for Jinder. It may be of no concern to Western fans, but India is a huge potential market for WWE - one which has helped keep TNA afloat for years - and it'd make great business sense for the company to make their top guy a man with broad appeal in a country of 1.3 billion people. That's a pretty large demographic who might be tempted to try the WWE Network with Mahal as the 'Maharaja'.

And I think it'll happen. I actively hope it happens. And not just to see the Backlash backlash.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
