WWE Backlash 2024: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

2. WWE Ditches Damian Priest

WWE backed themselves into a corner with Damian Priest's Money In The Bank win. Being brutally honest, the promotion should ditch the briefcase gimmick for a few years and let everyone mentally reset on it - they almost let Priest's time with the thing linger too long before his shock cash-in at WrestleMania 40.

Here's another issue: Judgment Day's finest is blatantly a short term fix for the top title spot on Raw. CM Punk or Drew McIntyre will get their mitts on the thing once healthy, which means Priest's Backlash title defence vs. Jey Uso is a little bit of a PLE oddity that was completely unexpected.

WWE might try their luck with Jey Uso in the lead role. Y'know, just to see if he has what it takes to sit atop a division as champ. That'd destroy Damian's credibility into the bargain though, so creative has to be real careful with the outcome on Saturday night in France.

Plan for Priest could be lose the belt > blame his stablemates > watch Judgment Day crumble > feud with Finn Bálor.
