WWE Backlash 2024: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

1. Cody Rhodes Is Actually Injured

Recent reports say there isn't too much to worry about with Cody Rhodes coming out of his match vs. Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown. That's cool, but Dave Meltzer was playing a guessing game on everything. What if his cries for calm are misplaced and Cody is actually hurting more than WWE wants to let on?

Man, it'd be depressing if Rhodes was the latest champ who had to vacate due to injury.

WWE is still reeling from Rhea Ripley doing the same, and everyone had to deal with CM Punk announcing he was out of the running for WrestleMania during a crunch period before that. Losing Cody would be disastrous for Triple H right now, but injuries don't care about timing. In fact, they regularly strike at the worst possible times.

Rhodes tearfully announcing that he can't work AJ Styles, and thus being replaced by someone like LA Knight, would suck. That isn't meant as disrespect towards LA by any means, but yeah - Cody kissing the WWE Title goodbye so soon after winning it is an awful thought.
