WWE Backstage News For Why The Undertaker Wrestled On Mexico Tour
Promotors threatened to pull out unless the Deadman came along.
WWE booked The Undertaker on their recent Mexico tour to placate angry promoters, who threatened to withdraw support unless a big name was involved. According to reporter Marc Middleton, promotion company Ocesa were majorly unhappy with the proposed roster for the tour, especially as it contained no major Mexican stars. Beyond Sin Cara, Kalisto, El Torito and the (Puerto Rican) Los Matadores tag team, WWE have a severe lack of Hispanic talent on the main roster compared to previous years when genuine stars such as Rey Mysterio, Mistico and Alberto Del Rio would appear. It is believed that Ocesa actually threatened to pull out of the tour unless the appearance of a major star was guaranteed, as they believed WWE's proposed plans wouldn't allow them to sell enough tickets to turn a substantial profit.
