WWE Battleground 2016: 10 Things That Must Happen

2. Dean Ambrose Retains The WWE Title

Dean Ambrose only captured the WWE Title at Money In The Bank. After winning the titular Ladder Match, he then cashed in on Seth Rollins to bag the belt. Moments earlier, Rollins had himself defeated Roman Reigns to become the new champion. In the space of just the one show, all three former members of The Shield held the title.

Another title switch at Battleground may feel like overkill. Ambrose clearly isn't going to be a long-term champion for WWE, he has an air of placeholder about him, but he deserves the chance to show what he can do when headlining major pay-per-view events like SummerSlam.

Therefore, he should leave Battleground still as champion. Removing the title from him would take it to Raw (because both Reigns and Rollins have been drafted to that show), but it also leaves things looking a little emptier on SmackDown.

By having Ambrose retain, he can move onto something entirely fresh, away from battles against his former stablemates. He'd also make SmackDown look important. Surely, that's the entire purpose of the brand extension.
