Flowers and streamers greeted Kevin Owens and Finn Balor for this NXT Championship match. The Japanese crowd was firmly behind Finn...and Owens knew it.

Kevin made repeated attempts to egg on the crowd. A funnier moment was when Balor was seated and Owens hit the ropes twice. It looked like he was going to use an impact move but instantly slowed himself down and applied a chinlock. Funny stuff.

This lengthy match was very back and forth as well as physical. Some of the more spectacular nearfalls included a first Coup de Grace by Finn that Owens kicked out of. Another good one was when Owens did a second rope rolling senton onto Finn.

The finale came after Balor held the ropes in a Popup Powerbomb attempt to prevent the move. He was able to kick Owens into the corner and follow it up with another diving kick while Owens was lying there. This set up the final move of the match, a second Coup de Grace. Finn pinned Owens to become the new champ.

WWE Hall of Famer Tatsumi Fujinami came to the ring after the win to be the first to congratulate the new NXT Champ. Finn would extend his hand as a sign of respect after the match, but his opponent refused the gesture. The Demon arrived in Japan in a spectacular match.
