WWE has begun the process of building LA Knight back up again.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Knight's SmackDown booking last week was designed to make him look strong. This follows the Crown Jewel 2023 premium live event, where he was unsuccessful against Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, eating defeat via patented Bloodline interferences.

Knight was prominent on SmackDown, with WWE announced a match between him and Grayson Waller following a series of social media exchanges between the two.

The bout was preceded by an in-ring talking segment between the duo, which came immediately before the bell. Knight and Waller then wrestled for around 12 minutes, with Knight picking up the victory via BFT, having spent much of the contest selling for Waller, who continues to be a strong heel fixture on SmackDown.

Jimmy Uso, who caused Knight's defeat at Crown Jewel, said later in the evening that if the felled babyface wants a piece of him on next week's SmackDown, he can get one. That match appears certain for Friday's show. Solo Sikoa is also due to return on that broadcast, opening the door for another interference finish.
