WWE Books FOUR Second Match On SmackDown

Someone's WWE SmackDown debut fell flat, but at least it didn't last long!

Giovanni Vinci's first match since moving to SmackDown ended with a four second defeat to current tag wrestler Apollo Crews. Yes, four seconds. That decision has split opinions amongst fans on social media, and it doesn't exactly bode well for Vinci's stint as a singles star post-Imperium.

Of course, there's time for Triple H to frame a story around Giovanni's big disappointment. Perhaps giving WWE the benefit of the doubt would be wise here, but critics on socials are screaming about how this was all rather Vince McMahon circa 2019, and that's not meant as a compliment.

Crews is hardly the most well-developed character these days himself, so it has some fans worried that Vinci will struggle away from GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser. This, for reference/those who didn't watch the show, was treated like a surprise by announcers Michael Cole and Corey Graves.

Vinci worked the old, 'I wasn't ready, ref!' gimmick post-defeat.

Here's hoping this isn't a sign of things to come for Giovanni. He deserves the chance to show what he can do on his own. Staring at the lights in four seconds won't help him flourish.
