There’s still speculation regarding Eric Young’s contract status, and the former TNA star hasn’t been seen on NXT television since May 4th. If Dave Meltzer’s word is anything to go by, however, Young has indeed signed a WWE contract, and should be good-to-go for NXT’s next booking cycle.

While the likes of Bobby Roode and Samoa Joe could step-up to Raw or Smackdown immediately, NXT needs to retain a veteran presence to balance-out its core group of exciting youngsters. Young fits the mould perfectly: he’ll never be a billboard-fronting megastar, but he’s charismatic, versatile, and has enough name value to draw fans in whenever NXT hits the road.
