We may be on the verge of witnessing a huge bidding war over the futures of Kairi Sane and Io Shirai, with suitors Bushiroad keen to pry the talented duo away from WWE, their current employers.

This is according to Dave Meltzer on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. He claims that Bushiroad (who are NJPW's parent company) remain very, very keen on signing the duo for their newly-acquired Stardom promotion, and will likely make big-money offers to tempt the former Sky Pirates back to Japan.

WWE will likely respond with juicy contracts of their own and Meltzer also notes that Shirai could be brought up to Raw or SmackDown to entice her to stay.

News that Bushiroad were interested in Sane and Shirai first emerged in November 2019. As noted at the time, Sane is contracted with WWE through March 2020, though there's no word on when Shirai's deal expires and she only officially signed with the world's biggest promotion in May 2018.

Regardless, it's easy to see why Bushiroad would make signing Shirai and Sane a priority, given their skill, popularity, and history with Stardom. Let's see what comes of this.
