Opening the actual pay-per-view with some meaty ladder bumps wouldn't be a bad idea. WWE must also know deep down that workers as great as Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles and Sami Zayn could never disappoint; these dudes could phone it in and they'd still be able to craft something watchable.

The good news? They won't phone it in.

Everyone involved seems pretty motivated to make the Intercontinental Title a focal point on Friday nights, and they'll take that passion into Sunday. If someone backstage approaches all three and says, 'Hey, we want you to open Clash because we know you'll own it', then they'll dutifully deliver the goods.

Hardy, AJ and Zayn can set the tone for the rest of the night by putting on a three-way match that forces everybody else to step up. That pressure can be good. Imagine, for example, that Cesaro is next through the curtain - he'd be inspired by the challenge.
