Yet another epic promo from CM Punk. This time, however, it drew genuine from certain people both within and outside of the WWE Universe. CM Punk proclaimed on the February 25th 2013 edition of Raw that 'Tonight is about what is more important than The Rock. Tonight is about what's more important than WrestleMania. Tonight is about me.' Punk's heel character at the time was an egomaniac, and he'd just lost the WWE title after a record-setting 434 days to a part-time, semi-retired 'legend' in The Rock and as far as CM Punk was concerned, that just wasn't going to fly. The Rock beat CM Punk at the Royal Rumble to win his first WWE Championship in years and then beat him again at Elimination Chamber. The only way Punk was going to get one last shot at The Great One was to beat John Cena in a Number 1 Contender's Match on Raw. Just prior to the match, Punk capped off his epic promo by stating 'You are in the presence of greatness on two feet. I am not just a human being. I am immortal... A legend. An icon. And in this world that you all inhabit, I... I am God!' This was insanely good storytelling and a great way to build up some heat for his character. The Catholic Church (among others), however, saw it as blasphemy and jumped on the chance to liken it to Punk's Straight Edge Society from back in 2010 when Punk considered himself a 'saviour.' It was all blown quite out of proportion, and at the end of the day it was an excellent line in a truly excellent promo and deserved a lot more credit than it got.
