Although it's been something that fans have been toying with for several years now, it finally seems that WWE are seriously considering the idea of holding a Money in the Bank match for a shot at the women's championship.

In response to a fan-submitted question on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer admitted that there's been discussions within WWE about adding a women's MITB match to the June 19th pay-per-view in Las Vegas.

"I've heard talk. I don't know that it's going to happen. I hope if they do it, that they don't do a ladder match. I just feel that people would get hurt. Maybe do an elimination match. But then if you don't do the ladder match, then it makes it secondary, so you're kind of screwed.

Meltzer's analysis that fans would view the bout as inferior to the male version if it weren't a ladder match may be a little off since most viewers understand the demands that such a display places on one's body and would be hopefully be understanding if WWE declined to go that route.

The match would be a logical next step in the evolution of the division as the women wrestlers continue to work hard to shatter the stereotypes they've been previously burdened with.

With a deeper, talent-filled roster than the company has ever boasted on the female side, 2016 would absolutely be the right time to give this concept a trial and let the women go out there and show what they can do.
