While she's maybe not the biggest name of WWE's recent round of releases, the release of Tyra Mae Steele has raised questions about the point of the company's LFG show.

For those not familiar with it, WWE LFG is a competition show where budding wrestlers vie for an NXT contract, mentored by veterans such as the Undertaker, Booker T, and Mickie James.

With the show having now entered its third season, the previous winners are Tyra Mae Steele, Jasper Troy, Skylar Rae, and Shiloh Hill. Troy and Hill are heavily featured players on NXT these days, with Rae a sporadic NXT presence. As for Steele, while she appeared on NXT programming - most notably teaming with Tavion Heights against Chelsea Green and Ethan Page at NXT Heatwave in October - she was a more regular player on EVOLVE.

Per f4wonline's Bryan Alvarez, the release of Tyra Mae Steele has left some questioning LFG.

As Alvarez put it:

"A lot of people in NXT questioning what the point of LFG is if they're just going to cut the winner."

Tyra Mae Steele and Jasper Troy won the first season of WWE LFG in May 2025, and now, less than one year later, Steele finds herself released.

The real-life Tamyra Mensah-Stock is an Olympic gold medalist, having won big at the Tokyo Olympics back in 2021. After making her first WWE appearance at SummerSlam 2021, she'd sign with WWE in 2023, initially being a part of Chase U before landing that spot in LFG in 2025.
