WWE: Dolph Ziggler's Comments That Ended 2013 Push Revealed

The plight of Dolph Ziggler was a big story in WWE in 2013 because he went into the year on a hot streak after defeating John Cena in the main event of the December 2012 TLC event. He went on to win the World Heavyweight Championship on the Raw that took place the night after WrestleMania, which was one of the most memorable moments of the year. The crowd absolutely loved it and he received one of the biggest ovations of the year despite the fact that he was a heel. Sadly, that's where the fun ended for Ziggler. Soon after his World Title win, he suffered a concussion that put him out of action for a few weeks. At the Payback PPV in 2013, Ziggler defended the World Title against rival Alberto Del Rio. Going into the match, Ziggler was the heel champion. By the end of the match, Del Rio was the heel champion while Zigger became a babyface. In the second half of 2013, Ziggler was never able to regain the momentum he had. Why? What happened? We might finally have that answer. It was mentioned by F4WOnline.com that it was these comments that Ziggler made to MLive.com back in September that got him in hot water.
"I've made it clear; I'm not patient at all - several times. I've been very vocal about my position on the card and in the company. I'm not trying to say 'Hey, everybody sucks and I'm great!' But I love doing this, and at some point you go 'OK, It's not my time right now and I got to figure something out' And when it's time, that's when I must go out there and make as huge of an impact as I can and let everyone know 'I dare you to follow that, I dare you try something better.' And when they don't (counter or match what I'm doing in the ring) I'm very outspoken about it and it can get me into very hot water (with the company). Then you never know where we're going. Everybody can be just so outspoken about taller guys, and guys like Randy Orton being the face of the WWE, the WWE Championship. I dare you to put me in a back alley with Randy Orton or someone like that. I guarantee I'm not afraid of someone taller."
Did he say anything that was that bad? No. He just spoke his mind by saying that he was going to keep doing his best to prove that he is as good as anybody in the business. Good for him in wanting to do that. However, this is pro wrestling. A lot of the times the guys that get to the top are the ones that never say anything controversial or anything that could be construed as going too far. John Cena is the perfect example of that. He rarely gives his opinion on anything. His interviews are basic. His tweets aren't interesting at all. He's perfectly aware of what works and doesn't work in his line of work. Of course he's also been a top guy for nearly a decade, so he knows how the game is played. A guy like Ziggler is fighting from the bottom and it's not as easy. These days Ziggler is sitting on the sidelines. He suffered a concussion a couple of weeks ago and may still be dealing with that or he might just be at home because creative has nothing for him. The wrestling business is silly in a lot of ways. There was nothing wrong with what Ziggler said. Hopefully for Ziggler's sake, something good can happen for him that will see him with an increased role in WWE programs going forward.
