WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 Main Event Set
Six of Smackdown's top stars clash in the chamber.
With only two weeks until the next Smackdown brand Pay-Per-View, Elimination Chamber, there was pressure on WWE to announce the show's main event as soon as possible. The company did just that, having Shane McMahon drop the bomb in the opening segment - on February 12, John Cena will defend the WWE Championship in the Elimination Chamber against AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin, The Miz, and Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose. Absent from the match is Randy Orton, who earned a WWE Championship match at WrestleMania by winning the Royal Rumble.
This is the first Elimination Chamber PPV since 2015, when the Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships were on the line in the titular structure. Prior to that, the Chamber had become a staple of February's PPV (first at No Way Out, then at an eponymous show), where either a world title would be on the line in the bout or a spot in a WrestleMania championship match would be up for grabs. Cena has previous picked up victory in three separate Elimination Chamber matches - one at New Year's Revolution 2006, one at Elimination Chamber 2010, and one at Elimination Chamber 2011.
Elimination Chamber airs live on the WWE Network on February 12 at 8:00 PM ET.
