WWE Elimination Chamber 2019: 10 Things We Learned
6. The IC Title Is On A Workhorse Again
Dean Ambrose fans will despise this, but here's some truth: the Intercontinental Title was last relevant before Deano won the thing from Seth Rollins at TLC. Around Rollins' CrossFit-loving waist, it carried the workhorse tag of old; people expected to see Seth defend it in lengthy, Meltzer-pleasing matches.
That stopped when Ambrose held it for 29 days, dropped it to Bobby Lashley, and he marched around for another 34 days doing nothing of note.
At Elimination Chamber, WWE went back in time to put the belt on another hard worker. Despite the step backwards and recognition of their own mistake, it's a positive. In Finn Bálor, the IC Title has an owner who guarantees good matches and could (provided he's booked properly) be Rollins 2.0 with the beloved championship.
It may have been better to see Bálor win the title at WrestleMania, but one can't have everything. If nothing else, he's a better choice as champion than the limp Lashley.
