WWE calls Braun Strowman the Monster Among Men, but a more fitting nickname is the Magnet Among Men: Strowman, who has never appeared so irrelevant, eats metal in every single one of his matches to enable the heat spot. It was the steel steps here, making a nice change from the ring post.

And, since Baron Corbin controlled that heat spot, and also does the same sh*te in every match, this was always going to bore us senseless.

Strowman’s “I don’t need a kendo stick to whip your ass!” line was, sorry, vintage enough to feel a flicker of the old love that is fading so rapidly, but elsewhere, Christ. Very little happened in a match that dragged in one predictable direction, blocking off the No Disqualification shortcut almost entirely until a finish framed as a brutal attack—but in reality was just brutal in its lack of heft and its condemnation of RAW’s midcard.

At one point, Michael Cole remarked that Braun Strowman “doesn’t have any friends.” Pity is the precise emotion we should never feel for the man, and he’s a mortal now, of which there is no doubt. Corbin, Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley, truly one of the worst factions in pro wrestling history, crashed Strowman through two tables. It didn’t even generate a pop. A table spot didn’t even generate a pop.

It’s uncertain where we go from here, but we can’t be headed to New Jersey with this dynamic. Braun Strowman is destined for the piss match, and to think, some people thought the Nicholas angle was “no big deal”.

Strowman is no longer a big deal, so they were half-right.
