WWE Evolution: 8 Things We Learned
2. Ronda Rousey Needs A Marquee Opponent
It'll hurt her detractors to hear this, but Stephanie McMahon remains the most high-profile opponent Ronda Rousey has faced in a WWE ring to date. At WrestleMania 34, McMahon led a masterclass in heel behaviour, and she was the coward Ronda needed to take down and kick start her career by toppling.
By contrast, Nikki Bella fell short in the antagonist role. There was nothing wrong with her own work at Evolution, don't get us wrong. It's just that, well, Rousey needs someone a bit more believable now she's conquered a few big mouths who ultimately crumble when she does her steely glare routine and locks in that arm bar.
Post-Evolution, it's critical that Ronda is fed someone she won't eat alive.
Another mini-lesson to take out of the show is that Nia Jax isn't that woman. She's already fell to Ronda (albeit by disqualification) at Money In The Bank, so it's a bit strange that WWE are willing to throw a rematch out there so quickly.
