WWE Extreme Rules: 10 Matches It Could Set Up For The Future
3. Triple H vs. Roman Reigns
Its not just process of elimination thats put Roman Reigns in Triple Hs crosshairs. Sure, we can match up Orton and Rollins, and Batista with Ambrose, but the remaining members of each faction will meet over more than mere convenience. Roman Reigns is being positioned as a major star in WWE. He has been given so many opportunities to shine over the last year, and has not squandered a single one. As long as he can continue to expand his in-ring repertoire, and add some eloquence to that smolder, he is gold. But it seems to be a rite of passage for wrestlers to go through Triple H before they can be truly considered made men. One cannot get to the main event by virtue of talent alone: there is an it factor required, coupled with the ability to play ones cards correctly when it comes to backstage politics. Reigns strikes me as the type who will follow instructions and be a team player (he does come from American football), and most definitely possesses that it factor that endears fans of all ages and both genders. It appears that hes on his way to superstardom; but being considered a main event player requires more than just winning a championship (as we saw with CM Punk, sometimes the WWE Championship itself does not mean main event). You have to get the blessing from certain leaders, one of whom can still lace up his boots: Triple H. Not only does Reigns stand to gain a lot from facing Triple H, but the King of Kings does as well. He would love to prove that he can hang with the young up-and-comers, and hell likely target Reigns at Extreme Rules.
