WWE Extreme Rules 2017: 8 Awesome Moments

1. Samoa Joe Cruelly Cuts Off Finn Balor's Fire

Samoa Joe Finn Balor

Towards the end of the Fatal-5-Way, it seemed for the briefest of moments that Finn Balor might actually pull it off and be the one to challenge Brock Lesnar. That's when Samoa Joe stepped in and cruelly snatched the win from Balor's grasp with an iron-tight Coquina Clutch.

Not only was it awesome that Joe was given the victory, it was amazing to see him do so with a submission. This was a seriously packed match, so it seemed illogical to imagine beforehand that anyone would have time for submission holds. The fact Joe won this way makes him look like a monster ready to slay a 'Beast'. How fitting, given what's coming next.

For Balor, challenging for the Intercontinental Title or resuming his on/off feud with Bray Wyatt seems plausible. For Joe, the sky's the limit. Chances are slim he's beating Lesnar, but even being on that platform represents promotion for someone who once seemed doomed to stagnate in NXT.
