WWE Extreme Rules 2021: 10 Things That Must Happen
3. Roman Reigns Conquers His ‘Demon’
Roman Reigns is about to join Samoa Joe by becoming only the second man to beat Finn Bálor's 'Demon' guise in singles action. Joe offed Bálor's alter ego back in June 2016 at NXT TakeOver: The End. Over five years later, a certain 'Tribal Chief' will do the same at Extreme Rules 2021.
There's no other option.
What's the alternative? That WWE cast Roman aside for a while, strip him off his top boy status on SmackDown and make his upcoming battle with Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel non-title? That's inconceivable, and it won't happen. No, ye olde 'Demon' is about to be exorcised by the best performer in the biz.
Bálor can still look strong in defeat. Reigns has become a master of teasing his own downfall (look at matches with Cesaro, Edge and Daniel Bryan), and he'll repeat that trick one more time to help Finn look competitive. Then, eventually, the Universal Champ will have his hand raised.
