WWE Extreme Rules: 8 Predictions

1. Evolution Adapts To The Shield

Perhaps the most anticipated match on the Extreme Rules card is the 6 man tag match between The Shield and the newly reformed Evolution. In a stroke of creative genius by reforming Evolution, the WWE has inadvertently made Batista and Randy Orton relevant again and offered the WWE Universe a mouth-watering clash between two of the most dominant stables in modern WWE history. While The Shield started what Triple H has termed 'a war' with Evolution, it is more than likely that at Extreme Rules it will be Evolution who will win the first major battle of such 'a war' against The Shield. After all it would make little sense to reform Evolution only to have Evolution lose in its returning match. Of course many fans might suggest that Evolution has not defeated The Shield on a level playing field, highlighting that at Extreme Rules when Evolution finally encounters The Shield without any added advantage, The Shield will be odds on favourites to win. This could prove to be true, but Evolution as a concept is very much about adaptation and as such these fans might be better informed to recognise that Evolution's adaptation at Extreme Rules will likely come in the form of 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair. While Flair's presence at Extreme Rules has not been made official, it is probable that he will be at ringside during the match, particularly following his brief appearance on the last edition of Monday Night RAW where he switched allegiance from his former stable Evolution to The Shield. However it is worth noting that despite suggesting that The Shield was the epitome of 'greatness' and 'power' he winked mischievously at Evolution, indicating that perhaps at Extreme Rules 'the dirtiest player in the game' will screw over The Shield, thus helping Evolution 'adapt' to clinch victory. In any event, it is more than likely that Evolution will in one way or another defeat The Shield, drawing first blood in a war that is likely to escalate in the weeks and months ahead.
