The storm of criticism from much of the WWE fanbase following the controversial conclusion to Friday's SmackDown shows no sign of easing.

For those living under a rock, Cody Rhodes got trapped under a Rock. 'The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment' arrived unannounced to step up to Roman Reigns as Rhodes confirmed he wouldn't be taking on 'The Tribal Chief' at WrestleMania 40.

The already-infamous segment became the most-disliked video in the history of WWE's YouTube channel under 48 hours after it was posted, and a #WeWantCody hashtag has trended all weekend. But online circles aren't the only places where the anger is evident - live and television crowds were in furious voice over the weekend.

In videos posted to X, fans at a Knoxville house show on Sunday booed every appearance of The Rock in video packages recapping the action from the blue brand. Cody headlined the event with a win over Shinsuke Nakamura to "We Want Cody" chants. Across the state in Clarkesville, the NXT Vengeance Day crowd could be heard loudly booing as WrestleMania graphics flashed up featuring 'The Great One'.
