WWE Fastlane 2016: 10 Live Observations

8. Dolph Ziggler's Home Town Status Ignored

This is one that won't be that big of a deal to everyone who was watching Fastlane on the WWE Network, but for all of those watching live who don't hear commentary, it makes a difference. Dolph Ziggler is from Cleveland, which might fly under the radar for some fans as he's not announced as being from there unless he's on a show in the city. In that case, he's announced as being "from Cleveland, Ohio" in the usual cheap crowd-pleasing manner. This time though, he was not. Was it deliberate or was it a mix up by Lillian Garcia? We'll probably never know. In turn, Kevin Owens actually almost had a better crowd reaction than Ziggler did, granted it was most certainly a mix of cheers and boos. It's not a big deal, but simply announcing Ziggler was from Cleveland would have helped to get fans in his corner as they wouldn't push away the home town hero. Especially going up against someone who is rising in popularity like Kevin Owens. It also seemed a bit odd to ignore the fact he was from Cleveland considering he was wearing Cleveland wrestling gear, which he tends to do when he's in the city. The announce team more than likely played up his home town status, but for those watching live, it seemed conspicuously underplayed.
