WWE Great Balls Of Fire: 8 Things WWE Got Right

1. Brock Lesnar Retaining His Universal Title

As sweet as some surprises are, it's a good thing WWE didn't go all out and book Samoa Joe to end Brock Lesnar's Universal Title reign at Great Balls Of Fire. It's not that Joe doesn't deserve to be champion - he does - but this was Brock's first real feud since recapturing the title from Goldberg at WrestleMania 33.

Joe was given a lot of shine in the main event; he didn't look out of place and that was enough. Writing him to win would have felt premature. There's so much more time than even WWE probably realise to turn him into Raw's top champion. What's the rush? Joe has now shown he belongs in the headline mix.

SummerSlam needs a huge match like Lesnar vs. Reigns or Lesnar vs. Strowman to sell it, so it's a good thing Brock held onto the red belt for now. For all the hype surrounding Joe (much of it merited), people have to realise that Brock Lesnar needs to be protected too.
