WWE originally had plans for Triple H at WrestleMania 38.

With The Game officially announcing his immediate retirement from in-ring competition during an interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith on First Take, the 14-time World Champion quickly became the talk of the internet yesterday.

And while news of the true severity of his heart condition quite rightly stole most of the fans' attention upon hearing this shocking news, another tidbit when it comes to what the future could have held for The King of Kings has once again hinted at just how much of an impact his cardiac event has had both on himself and WWE as a whole.

As revealed during the full version of said First Take interview, Trips confessed that he was at one point pencilled in for a match at the upcoming two-night WrestleMania 38 event. Obviously, his sudden deterioration of health led to those plans being scrapped, but WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was initially very interested in having his son-in-law be a part of the show pre-cardiac-event.

As Triple H put it:

“I was already at a place in my career, as far as the in-ring goes, where I was comfortable being done and finished. “If the right thing came along, I hadn’t really said much, but if the right thing came along and they wanted me to do it."

He'd continue:

“I had a conversation with Vince McMahon about doing something at WrestleMania this year in Dallas. We had talked about and there were plans for. Obviously, when this happened, it shut all that down. As far as the schedule, WWE is an intense place, it’s 24/7 and you’re running, running, running. It put things in perspective for me.”

Despite calling it a day in the ring, Triple H still shows no signs of taking his foot off the gas any time soon as his appearance on the show further highlighted just how much he adores the industry and company he has become an integral part of.

It'll likely be a while before he truly immerses himself in the whirlwind chaos that routinely is the day-to-day WWE landscape, however.
