Sad news today in the wrestling world, as legendary manager and wrestler Harry Fujiwara, better known as Mr. Fuji, passed away this morning at the age of 82.

Fuji was a big part of WWE's history as he formed a dominant tag team with Professor Tanaka, and became a five time WWWF tag team champion. Born in Hawaii, he was actually a Japanese American, though pushed as an evil foreigner who hated The United States throughout much of his lengthy career.

He became a main event talent in the 1970's, and one of the most disliked heels in the world. Despite being a great in-ring worker, he would often resort to infamously throwing salt in his opponents' eyes to steal the victory.

Later in his career, Fuji transitioned over to the role of a manger, notably leading Demolition to championship glory. It was his work with Don Muraco that he is perhaps most well-remembered for with modern fans, due to their enjoyable chemistry and ridiculous Fuji Vice videos.

Late in his career, he achieved success once again as the manager of Yokozuna, helping him capture the WWF title. It was his last triumph, as Fuji left the company shortly after WrestleMania 12 and retired from the wrestling business.

In 2007, he was honored with an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
