You thought you knew that he'd be out of action for a while, but he's back.

Despite The Judgment Day's attempts to cripple him a few weeks back, Edge made a surprise return on Monday night to close out Raw, racing down to ringside to chase off his former stablemates and issue a challenge.

The Hall-of-Famer delivered spears to Finn Balor and Damian Priest before challenging Balor to an I Quit match at Extreme Rules. Edge talked about how he always comes back after an injury, even if it takes nine years (the gap between his 2011 retirement and shock return at the 2020 Royal Rumble), noting that he never quits, which prompted the stipulation.

Edge has been on a quest to vanquish the group he created earlier this year ever since Judgment Day bounced him from their ranks back in June. The Rated-R Superstar teamed with Rey Mysterio to battle - and defeat - Judgment Day at Clash at the Castle, only for Dominik Mysterio to turn on them and join the group. On the following Raw, Balor tried to end Edge's career by hitting a Coup de Grace on his leg, which was draped across a chair.

This would mark the first-ever match-up between Balor and Edge, and it could be a brutal affair. It's also a safe bet to expect Dominik to get involved in some fashion.
