Former World Heavyweight Champion Booker T revealed on his Hall of Fame Podcast that he'd like to see Big E strip away some of his New Day traits during his current run as he thinks it will help him succeed as a singles star.

A few weeks ago, Kofi Kingston was struck down by injury, leaving Big E as the only New Day member fit enough to perform on a weekly basis. Big E is now finally being pushed as a singles competitor and successfully overcame The Miz on this week's episode of SmackDown.

However, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T still isn't convince the star can succeed as a World Champion whilst still strutting around in his current New Day persona:

'I think Big E is going to have to shed a few things in order for people to look at him like the World Champion. The gear, maybe — some forms of the gear. The colors. But then again people say, "Oh, well, he shouldn’t change anything.’’ I'm not gonna sit here and say what’s what because I don’t want the internet going off saying, "Oh, Booker T saying he needs to do this!"'
'I still think Big E trying to be The New Day is not gonna work for him as far as him working at the top of the card. I’m talking about being the main attraction. I’m talking about the guy the company has put in position to be the guy! I don’t think that’s going to catapult him to that level as far as still trying to be The New Day. You can’t try to rehash something that you’ve been doing for so long and think that’s what is going to take you to the next level.'

It must be said that Big E's team member Kofi Kingston managed to reach the top of the mountain at WrestleMania 35 whilst still showing off the vibrant New Day aesthetic and having fun along the way. So, it's hard to see how this could prevent him from fulfilling his potential as a top star in the company.

Big E also showcased both his fun-loving and no-nonsense characteristics during his recent SmackDown victory and debuted a new submission finisher which looked as impressive as it did painful.
