WWE Hamilton Ontario Live - 10 Interesting Observations

5. Sami Zayn Did Not Show Off As Much As Usual

It's always a treat to see Sami Zayn in person. Since he's on the NXT brand there wasn't a huge reaction for him, but it was still good. Before the match with Erick Rowan started, there were "ole ole ole" chants for Zayn, so that was nice to hear. Rowan was an odd choice for Zayn's opponent because they have little to no history with one another and Rowan has been booked like a face since last fall. Rowan came out with the sheep mask. He didn't really do anything that was too heelish, so they just went with the basic story with Rowan as the big heel against the smaller face in Zayn. Most of the match was Rowan hitting his power moves, Zayn bumping all around the ring to make him look good and then Zayn was able to hit the Helluva Kick in the corner for the win. One of the guys I went with doesn't watch WWE that much, so I kept telling him about all the awesome aerial moves that Zayn can do like his dive over the top to the floor. He didn't do it, though. Since it was a live event, a lot of guys tend to avoid doing those dangerous dives over the top. It was a very basic match. For people wanting to see Zayn do more, maybe it could be considered disappointing, but that's a live event. It's smart for the wrestlers to be a bit conservative out there.
