WWE Hell In A Cell 2016: 10 Awesome Moments
Seeing WWE bring women's wrestling full circle was undeniably amazing...
Before Hell In A Cell, the General Manager of Monday Night Raw accidentally put his foot in it on social media. Letting his excitement get the better of him, Mick Foley revealed that Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte would be the main event of the pay-per-view. It wasn't long until the legend was backtracking.
Now, we know the reason why Foley was so quick to amend his words and state that Hell In A Cell would feature 'three main events'. That was the party line on the show itself anyway, everyone from backstage interviewers to the Kickoff panel and the main announcers were instructed to repeat that fans would be treated to a trio of headline-worthy bouts.
Thankfully, this didn't detract from a historic evening. Hell In A Cell was heavy on the use of tables, featured some matches that perhaps would have been better-served on Raw and arguably even had a flat ending. Somehow, the pay-per-view came through all of that with a plethora of awesome moments.
The best are featured here, focusing mainly on excellent storytelling and consistency. Let's look at the most awesome moments from Hell In A Cell...
10. Triple Cruiserweight Dive
WWE's retread of the Cruiserweight division isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Wheeling out numerous new faces in quick fashion, the writing team didn't do a particularly great job of making fans care about many of the new high-flyers. On a more cheerful note, the men involved are often talented enough to let their in-ring work do the talking.
For Hell In A Cell's Kickoff portion, the company planned a six-man tag-team effort to warm up the live crowd. Cedric Alexander teamed with both Lince Dorado and Sin Cara to take on Drew Gulak, Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari. Although it can be difficult for Kickoff bouts to shine, one spot in particular got the juices flowing.
With their opponents trying to regroup on the outside, Alexander, Dorado and Cara decided to throw in a little synchronisation to their work. Sprinting like their lives depended on it, the daredevil trio performed dives in unison over the top rope onto their rivals at ringside.
Particularly pleasing was the fact that the two masked men performed the same dive, letting Alexander in the middle look unique.
