WWE Hell In A Cell 2016: 21 Best Internet Reactions To Charlotte's Historic Win

History-making yes, but was it actually any good?

On a night when three cage fights happened, history was made for an entirely different reason. Sure, the home town hero was beaten by a heel (but then that's sort of the point isn't it?) and some will complain about the wild inconsistencies between pushing women's wrestling and a bubbling undercurrent of sexism, but Hell In A Cell was another step into the brave new world of WWE in 2016.

Charlotte reigned supreme, Roman Reigns beat Rusev, Bayely beat Dana Brooke, and Brian Kendrick, Cesaro and Sheamus, Kevin Owens and Gallows and Anderson all picked up wins, mostly for Championship belts, sometimes just for bragging rights. All-in-all, a solid show, but we're not looking for a general picture here.

What we want, as usual, is a precise picture of the fan reaction to the PPV online, and luckily, there's never a shortage of that around social media. Inevitably, there's a lot of snark.

Here are the biggest and best reactions to Hell In A Cell 2016...

21. It Was Better Than Clash Of Champions

At the end of the day, you're only as good as a wrestling promotion as your last show, and Hell In A Cell's direct comparison point was the particularly patchy Clash Of Champions. Literally the bare minimum Raw had to do was outshine that, and it does seem that most people acknowledged that as a success.

It's just a shame that more people compare it to what Smackdown are doing, rather than just what Raw are. Like it or not, WWE have created a brand war within their own product, and while that might be good for ratings in some respect, it's poor if either flagship ends up looking poor by comparison, and that's exactly what's happening with Raw.

It's all a ratings war, whether the bosses care to acknowledge it or not, and at least some people liked it more than No Mercy...
