WWE Hell In A Cell 2018: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best
3. WWE Title: AJ Styles (C) Vs. Samoa Joe
Result: AJ rolls through the Coquina Clutch and pins Joe to retain the title (19:00).
Rating: Is there any logical reason why this wasn't a HIAC match? Despite the emotionally charged - if rather silly - build, the match had a slow start and was, honestly, pretty boring for a few minutes.
After that the pair worked things out and the match picked up considerably, even if it never hit that high level we know these two can deliver. The terrible ending didn't help: AJ's title matches - and matches in general, really - are too often defined by dumb finishes. The fact it couldn't happen to a better wrestler is infuriating.
The ending made nobody look good while giving AJ yet another bunk finish to his extensive collection. This was also probably the right time to finally pull the trigger on Joe: he's certainly been waiting long enough. Frustrations aside, though, a solid title match more often than not. 7/10
