WWE Hell In A Cell 2022: 10 Things That Must Happen

WWE must book buckets of blood and a date for Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns at HIAC.

It'd be easy for wrestling fans not to give a rat's ass about Hell In A Cell 2022.

After all, WWE blatantly views this "premium live event" as total filler - that's evidenced by the fact that head boy Roman Reigns is skipping the pay-per-view, and by an alarming lack of match announcements on TV over the past few weeks. So, why should you give a toss about HIAC?

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins are going to tear the house down. That's...really the main reason for tuning in on Sunday. If you enjoyed what Cody and Seth achieved at WrestleMania 38 and 'Mania Backlash respectively, then you're gonna dig seeing them locked inside the titular Cell this weekend too.

Other pressing items on WWE's agenda for HIAC include keeping Riddle strong for Roman Reigns, revealing SummerSlam plans, making up for some dreadful Rhea Ripley booking on Raw, making sure that Kevin Owens doesn't slip further into disaster and more.

People want to see barbarity when they tune into a pay-per-view like this. The opener and headliner can certainly deliver that, but only if WWE is willing to get "juicy".

Here's everything that must happen.

10. The Six-Person Opens

This is an easy way to get the live crowd in Chicago onboard early.

Any match involving the likes of AJ Styles, Finn Bálor, Edge and Rhea Ripley will have some bell-to-bell urgency; throw them all in there together, sprinkle on Liv Morgan and Damian Priest, give them some time and reap the rewards. Crucially though, WWE must do these squads justice by letting them go on first.

They'd be perfect in the opening slot at Hell In A Cell. What's the alternative? Kick things off with Bobby Lashley vs. Omos and MVP? Kevin Owens vs. Ezekiel? How about Theory vs. Mustafa Ali? No, no and indeed no. That six-person scorcher is the only way to open Sunday's card.

It'd be amazing to see Bálor start the match with Edge too. Sure, the Judgment Day leader could stalk the ring apron for most of the early exchanges, but him vs. Finn (or even AJ) would give things spice from the off, and that's needed.
