Not only has Ryback come up short in his two appearances at WWE Hell in a Cell so far, he has come up short on both occasions against the very same opponent, that man CM Punk. The only differences between the two cell matches was that the alignments had switched, and in 2013 Ryback had the mighty Paul Heyman alongside him. Truth be told, WWE booked themselves into something of a hole towards the end of 2012 with Ryback, as he was given the big undefeated streak and then thrust into a WWE Championship program with CM Punk, who was clearly moving towards at least a year long reign. As such the match had a dirty finish, with Brad Maddox (then-referee) low-blowing The Big Guy and allowing Punk to roll him up for the three. Ryback would get the last laugh by Shellshocking Punk on the roof, but it still comes up as a big fat L in his Hell in a Cell statistics. 2013 was a bit more a straight-forward affair, Punk pinning Ryback in the middle of the ring before climbing on top to beat the tar out of Heyman. This year, Ryback gets his Intercontinental Championship re-match against Kevin Owens, and I've got a feeling he'll be returning to this column next year with the number two replaced by a three.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
