WWE Hershey Live Event: 10 Interesting Observations
10. Lack Of WrestleMania Excitement
One of the most disconcerting aspects of Sunday's live event was the lack of excitement surrounding WrestleMania. Throughout the night, videos aired hyping the event. Whereas in the past, those videos would generate excited ovations from the audience, they were met with general apathy. There were no cheers or boos for images of Roman Reigns, no eruptions for videos of Shane McMahon's return. Even the package devoted to The Rock's appearance was met with silence. Is it possible that the reaction was the result of a more casual audience (more on that in a bit) than your typical gathering of vocal die-hard fans? Perhaps. Maybe, though, it is the direct response to a lineup that has failed to capture the imagination of fans. Either way, it should be interesting to see how the fans that file into Dallas' AT&T Stadium respond when the company produces its biggest event of the year.
Erik Beaston is a freelance pro wrestling writer who likes long walks in the park, dandelions and has not quite figured out that this introduction is not for Match.com. He resides in Parts Unknown, where he hosts weekly cookouts with Kane, The Ultimate Warrior, Papa Shango and The Boogeyman. Be jealous.
