WWE Identity Crisis: The Sad State of John Cena & The Cenaverse

A Failed Experiment

Now if, to this point, you think I'm criticising the Cenaverse, you'd only be half right. I don't like the belittling on the WWE title, however, I was gripped week in and out by the Rock/Cena, Cena/Lesnar feuds. It's at this point that the train starts to derail. It's as if the perfect storm of crappiness occurred. John Laurinitis, a sub-par worker with terrible mic skills, was promoted to the most vocal figure of RAW, the GM. The Big Show: a sub-par wrestler who should be nowhere near the main event. John Cena, a sub-par wrestler (but hard worker) was sitting in the vacuum of the universe he created. These guys were sucked into the Vacuum of Cena, and forced upon us like a terrible meal at the in-law's house. The months of horrendous story lines, and worse matches, continued. Poor matches at 'Over the Limit' and 'No way out' were a particularly tough pill to swallow. Fans will note that the excellent CM Punk and Daniel Bryan feud was the 'real' headline of those shows, even though they weren't the closing match. As you can tell, I don't want to go into much detail of this (brief) period. I'd rather forget than re-live it. Click "next" for page 3...
