9. Cody Rhodes Is Really Into His Stardust Character
John CantonThe show began with Brandi Rhodes (or Eden), the real life wife of Cody Rhodes, welcoming us to the show. She's a gorgeous woman. The crowd was loud from the moment the countdown clock went down and Brandi welcomed us to the show. First match of the night saw Stardust & Goldust take on Ryback & Curtis Axel (Rybaxel). It was the first time seeing Stardust in person in that gimmick. It was pretty funny. He really played to the crowd well. Most of the match saw Goldust getting attacked by the heels, so I was watching Stardust. He did a lot of funny things while on the apron like licking his lips randomly or making funny facial expressions. Ryback was pretty funny dealing with the crowd chants. There were "Goldberg" chants that caused him to look at the crowd. Some fans were chanting "feed me more" and we could hear him say "haha I still got it" which was pretty funny. Stardust got the win for his team, which is no surprise. Faces usually win at house shows especially against heels that rarely win on television. Post match, Goldust and Stardust did some unique posing too. The crowd loved them. Also it's worth nothing that Cody never really broke from his character to acknowledge his wife at ringside. That's the key. Never break character. He's going to be successful in this gimmick even if it is pretty ridiculous.
