After winning last year and then spending the most directionless few months carrying the thing around, Braun eventually cashed in his briefcase, got decked by The Shield and then gave it up for a match at Hell in a Cell… where he promptly lost.

Not being involved on the show this year though, despite featuring prominently on TV the last few weeks lends itself to the suggestion he’ll make an appearance in some capacity. Indeed, this from the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer suggests that’s been the plan all along.

"Since Strowman isn’t on the show, he would be expected to get involved and play a part in the winner, which in theory would best be served for Ricochet, since he’s the other babyface on his brand and the kind of guy Vince would have the big guy help win.”

While the idea of Ricochet winning seems outlandish (there’s absolutely no other media even suggesting he’s being considered) the idea of the Monster Among Men getting these hands dirty would make a lot of sense. If only for the big spots he’d bring with him.
