WWE Money In The Bank 2023: 10 Things That Must Happen
5. World Title Match Echoes SummerSlam 2016
Finn Bálor must have a love/hate relationship with SummerSlam 2016. He won the Universal Title on that show, but then had to vacate the belt less than 24 hours later on Raw due to injuries. The pay-per-view clash with Seth Rollins was sweet, at least, and there's no reason to suspect lower quality this Saturday.
These lads are gonna be right up for it.
A neat way to reference the past would be booking Bálor to seek revenge on Seth for that powerbomb into the crowd barrier that ended his Universal dreams. That bump resulted in a nasty shoulder injury for Finn, so his vindictive character would see this as an eye for an eye. Or, a shoulder for a shoulder.
Seth is winning, sure, but his success shouldn't stop these men from harking back to battles from yesteryear. Meanwhile, the commentators can hammer home the point by suggesting Bálor is out to hurt Rollins long-term and win the belt.
