Cash In: Successful.

Rob Van Dam was the first star to give his chosen World Champion prior notice before cashing-in his briefcase instead of striking when his opponent was at their weakest.

ECW One Night Stand 2006 was to be the arena and RVD would battle John Cena in an Extreme Rules match for the WWE title in front of a very much pro-Van Dam hardcore New York crowd. He won the big one on the night and even went on to be crowned the new ECW Champion after Paul Heyman decided to bring the belt back on the debut episode of ECW on Sci Fi. RVD was therefore the first ever wrestler to hold both the ECW and WWE titles simultaneously.

Unfortunately he'd lose both titles fairly quickly and was then suspended for 30 days after a drug possession arrest.

Leaving the company a year later, Van Dam went on to appear in TNA, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and other various independent promotions. The 2006 MITB winner finally resurfaced in WWE in 2013, but again left the company a year later. He made numerous independent appearances from 2015 onwards and he now calls Impact Wrestling home.
