WWE Network: 10 Performers To Gorge On

9. Chris Jericho

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9D0BxZ31XNo The man who would one day become Y2J truly started gaining traction in the days of WCW. Before his countdown clock debut in August of 1999 on Monday Night Raw, Jericho was the undisputed king of WCW's undercard. In-ring? An artist. On the microphone? A mad genius. He reigned over the Cruiserweight division, and put on classics against the likes of Rey Mysterio, Juventud Guererra and Ultimo Dragon. But it was Jericho's feud against Dean Malenko that truly made his time in WCW. Prior to Uncensored 1998, Jericho had designated himself "the Man of 1,004 Holds", an obvious shot at Malenko's own moniker, "the Man of 1,000 Holds". He recited the list on an episode of Monday Nitro, which ran through an entire commercial break. Finally, at Uncensored 1998, Jericho defeated Malenko to retain the Cruiserweight Championship. The loss put Malenko out of public eye until Slamboree, two months later.During a Cruiserweight Battle Royale to determine who would face Jericho for the title, a newcomer known as Ciclope won the match and revealed himself to be a returning Malenko. The crowd reaction that night was magical. In truth, Jericho is absolutely masterful wherever he goes. Whether it's the conspiracy yelling coward of WCW, the Millenium Man that interrupted the Rock on his first night in the WWE, or his business suit wearing, calculated, parasite-hating iceman of 2008, you will never find a bad Jericho match or promo.
