WWE No Mercy 2016: 8 Things That Must Happen

Can SmackDown continue their good form, delivering a second great PPV in a row?

Since the WWE draft, SmackDown certainly looks to have come out the stronger of the two shows. Backlash has generally been considered a better pay per view than Raw's Clash of Champions, and No Mercy looks to be heading in a similar direction, boasting a straightforward card with the potential to do very well.

The main event triple threat between Styles, Ambrose and Cena looks to be the obvious show-stealer, but Dolph Ziggler and The Miz have been enjoying an excellent feud lately (and their match has an tantalising added stipulation since Ziggler's career on the line).

The lowercard is dotted with matches that also have the potential to be very entertaining, such as the Women's Championship match (featuring a rapidly improving Alexa Bliss) and the tag title bout between the makeshift team of Rhyno and Heath slater and the newly heel Usos.

It's fair to say that most fans are optimistic heading into Sunday's event, given the roll the blue brand has been on recently. But, as with any wrestling show, it skirts a fine line between triumph and disaster. Here are eight ways WWE can ensure that No Mercy lives up to expectations.

8. AJ Styles Has To Retain

AJ Styles has enjoyed one of the most astonishing debut years in WWE history, and there looks to be no slowing down. The WWE Champion's first PPV defence sees him take on both John Cena and Dean Ambrose, and although there's a slight risk Big Match John may be given his record-equalling 15th world title reign, Styles should really be walking away with the belt in his possession.

The main question here is whether AJ's credibility would be hurt by yet another dirty win. Although he maybe shouldn't cheat quite as flagrantly as he did to beat Ambrose at Backlash, it would make sense for Styles to take advantage of the chaos of a multi-man match - perhaps throwing out Cena after Ambrose takes the Attitude Adjustment.
