WWE No Mercy 2016: Ranking Every Match From Worst To Best
2. World Title: AJ Styles (c) Vs. John Cena Vs. Dean Ambrose
Result: AJ kills Cena with a steel chair before scoring the pin to retain the title (21:40).
Rating: It's safe to say this is one of the greatest opening matches in No Mercy history, right?
This was electric from the outset, and it helped that the crowd were so fresh and fired-up. Also, it wasn't just your usual "two guys pair off while the third guy sleeps" Triple Threat laziness, and they really emphasised the brutality that the No DQ rule allows.
Things got confusing and intense after AJ tapped out, teasing a Dusty finish but thankfully not committing to it. Still, the steel chair ending was admittedly pretty weak, especially for someone as talented as Styles, and does bring it down a point. Still, a very enjoyable "main event" on the whole. 7/10
