WWE NXT Live Philadelphia: 11 Interesting Observations

3. Rude, Unnecessary Hatred for Eva Marie

There was no wrestler that generated more heat than Eva Marie. I was expecting it, especially given the hardcore nature of the Philadelphia fans, but there was a meanness and nastiness about the reaction she received that was neither necessary nor deserved. That is not to say there were not chants that were not in good fun. The "please retire" bit was hilarious and played on similar chants directed at Big Show and Kane. But the amount of venom directed at her as she worked hard, despite her limited experience and move set, suggested that fans will never give her the benefit of the doubt. Is she a great wrestler? No. Absolutely not. But to be fair, she has been rushed to television despite minimal training. One does not simply jump in the squared circle and pick things up three days later. It takes years to become even a remotely decent wrestler. To think that Eva Marie, who only recently underwent real training under Brian Kendrick, and now works with the WWE Performance Center staff, will somehow be ready to step in and perform up to the level of her polished opponents is ridiculous. "You can't wrestle" chants, and some of the nastier and more uncalled for reactions, should probably be reserved for those wrestlers who have worked for years but have not made the strides necessary to move to the next level.
